We've all been there—a moment of distraction and your favorite pot has a layer of carbonized mystery stuck to the bottom. Don't reach for the steel wool just yet.
The Baking Soda & Vinegar Fuzz
Pour equal parts water and white vinegar into the pot. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Let it fizz, then wait 15 minutes. Most of the burn will slide right off.
The Dryer Sheet Soak
Fill the pot with warm water, add a drop of dish soap, and lay a dryer sheet on top. Let it sit overnight. The conditioning agents in the sheet help loosen the bond between the food and the metal.
